Non-Medicare Medical Costs

80% of costs up to a maximum of $3,000. Sub-limit of $500 for Private Hospital expenses and $1,000 for ambulance expenses.

When is a participant covered?

Participants are covered whilst engaged in a sporting activity or action as part of a registered event. Cover commences when you start your event and cover ceases when you finish the event.

Is a participant covered whilst travelling to an from an event?

No.

Is a participant covered for non-competitive activities whilst attending an event. i.e. camping overnight at a multi day event?

No, participants are only covered whilst actually engaged in a sporting activity as part of the event.

Are non-Australian residents covered?

No, members must be a permanent Australian resident at the time of the incident.

Are Medicare related expenses covered?

No, insurers are prohibited by law to make any payments for any service for which Medicare also makes any payment. This also excludes any "Medicare gap".

Is a Heath insurance "gap" covered?

Yes, in most circumstances a health insurance "gap" is covered.

Are there any age restrictions?

Yes, Loss of Income does not apply to members aged 65 years or over. Limited capital benefits apply to those under 18 years or over 65 years of age.

Is there any excess?

Yes excesses apply.

What happens if I am also entitled to a benefit under a state
motor compensation scheme?

This policy will not respond when compensation is available through a state motor compensation scheme, workcover or similar arrangement.

How do I make a claim?

Complete the claim form and return to Cyclecover asap.
